Journey with Delaunay

“Nature engenders the science of painting.”

Robert Delaunay (1885 – 1941)

The French artist co-founded Orphism, a trend in Cubism marked by strong colors and geometric shapes. He was among the first who drew non-representational paintings and hence influenced the development of abstract art, besides being highly influential on Expressionism, The Blue Rider, Dadaism and Futurism in Italy.

Inspired by Neo-Impressionism himself, Delaunay centered some of his best-known works on the Belle Epoque of Paris (1871 – 1914) and continued to draw paintings that expressed his Orphic theories.
